Optimizing your use of Tarantella Express

Tarantella Express includes extra components for some client devices that make using Tarantella Express even smoother.

Tarantella Native Client

You can access Tarantella Express using a separate, dedicated application, instead of using a web browser.

Depending on your web browser, you may need to save the Tarantella Native Client self-extracting file on your PC first before you can install the Native Client. Save the file into a temporary directory, then double-click ttawin16.exe (on Windows 3.1) or ttawin32.exe (on Windows 95, 98 and NT) to run the Setup program.

Tarantella Express Java archives

Tarantella Express uses Java applets, which web browsers must download before use. For some web browsers, we supply Tarantella Express Java archives: these can be downloaded once and installed locally on your client device, which speeds up access to Tarantella Express and your applications. They're automatically updated when you connect to a newer version of Tarantella Express.

Note The archives are only suitable for Netscape Navigator (or Communicator) 4, or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 or 5.
